The Software Architect Elevator
O'Reilly Media
As the digital economy changes the rules of the game for enterprises, the role of software and IT architects is also transforming. Rather than focus on technical decisions alone, architects and senior technologists need to combine organizational and technical knowledge to effect change in their company’s structure and processes. To accomplish that, they need to connect the IT engine room to the penthouse, where the business strategy is defined.

Rather than focus on technical decisions alone, architects and senior technologists need to combine organizational and technical knowledge to effect change in their company’s structure and processes. To accomplish that, they need to connect the IT engine room to the penthouse, where the business strategy is defined.
In this guide, author Gregor Hohpe shares real-world advice and hard-learned lessons from actual IT transformations. His anecdotes help architects, senior developers, and other IT professionals prepare for a more complex but rewarding role in the enterprise. -

Enterprise Integration Patterns
Addison Wesley
Enterprise integration tools were designed to resolve the "Tower of Babel" between disparate systems and information silos. Sadly, the vendors created a similar separation amongst the developer communities by using different languages to describe their solutions. This motivated Bobby Woolf and myself to define a common vocabulary and body of knowledge around asynchronous messaging architectures. We ended up documenting 65 Enterprise Integration Patterns in an accessible, but technically accurate format. The community thanked us with over 60,000 sold copies. The patterns have also become the "lingua franca" for virtually all open source ESB products.

Advertisement conversion logging

An advertisement distribution system can log advertisement conversions using Near Field Communication (“NFC”). An online advertisement may be served to a user in response to a query or at a website. An advertisement distribution system can log advertisement conversions using Near Field Communication (“NFC”). An online advertisement may be served to a user in response to a query or at a website. In response to the user selecting the advertisement, a landing page is displayed to the user and information regarding the advertisement is stored for logging purposes. The landing page may instruct the user to check in with an NFC-enabled device at an NFC base station of a merchant. The NFC base station transmits information identifying the merchant to the user's device and, in turn, the user's device transmits the information to the advertisement distribution system. The advertisement distribution determines that the advertisement resulted in a conversion using information regarding the advertisement and the information identifying the merchant received from the NFC base station via the user's device.
